In 1965, after many visits to the internationally known Grandeur Kennels of Sunny Shay in Hicksville New York, I decided on Hassan of Grandeur for my first afghan hound.

Hassan was subsequently bred to Am Ch. Tajmir's Desert Dream, the foundation bitch at the famous Mecca Kennels of Jim and Mary Nesbitt. That breeding produced my Mahimmar Nassah of Mecca and Mecca's Nadir Kahn.

Nadir Kahn later was bred to Mecca's Basic Black and produced the most outstanding Mecca's Medicine Man whom I co-owned for a time with Jim Nesbitt. Medicine Man can still be found in the pedigrees of today's top winning afghan hounds.

I also owned Am Ch. Mecca's Soul Song of Mahimmar who was the first Champion offspring of the specialty winning Am Ch Mecca's Blue Silks Karu, who also sired the famous Am Ch. Mecca's Falstaff. Soul Song's dam  was the lovely domino bitch, Mecca's Stars N Stripes

Forever owned by Irene Mayfield. Star, when bred to Mecca's Medicine Man, produced the outstanding black Mahimmar Milestone.
